How to Clean LVP & Laminate (Without Ruining the Finish)
April 20, 2026 · 4 min read · By B2B Flooring Solutions

Premium floors rarely fail from traffic. They fail from well-intentioned cleaning — the wrong products dull finishes, cloud wear layers, and void warranties.
Never use these
Steam mops (heat delaminates cores and voids nearly every warranty), oil-based 'shine' products (they build a film that traps dirt), and abrasive pads. If a product promises to 'restore shine,' keep it away from vinyl and laminate.
The routine that works
Dry: sweep or dust-mop high-traffic paths a couple of times a week — grit is what scratches. Damp: a well-wrung microfiber mop with a pH-neutral cleaner, monthly or as needed. That's genuinely the whole system.
Add felt pads under furniture legs and a walk-off mat at exterior doors and you've eliminated 90% of premature wear.
Small repairs
Minor scratches disappear with color-matched repair markers. Deeper damage in a click-lock floor can often be fixed by replacing the single plank — one more reason to keep a box of leftover material after installation. We include a care kit and full guide with every install.
