SPC vs. LVP: Which Vinyl Floor Is Right for You?
May 30, 2026 · 5 min read · By B2B Flooring Solutions

SPC and LVP are cousins in the vinyl family, and the sales floor rarely explains the difference well. The short version: SPC has a rigid stone-composite core; traditional LVP has a more flexible core. That one difference drives everything else.
Choose SPC when…
Your space sees temperature swings (sunrooms, cabins, spaces with big windows), your subfloor has minor imperfections the rigid core can bridge, or you're furnishing heavily — SPC resists dents from furniture legs far better.
Choose LVP when…
Comfort underfoot matters most — flexible-core LVP is warmer and quieter, especially with attached pads. It's also more forgiving to stand on for hours, which is why kitchens often favor it.
What they share
Both are 100% waterproof, both install with click-lock systems, and both come in wear layers from builder-grade to commercial. Neither is 'better' — the right answer is room-by-room, which is exactly how we quote.
